You may have noticed that Kerio Connect allows mixed authentication types within the same email domain. This way you don't have to create an account on your domain controller when you need to add a mailbox for someone that doesn't need to belong to your internal authentication domain.

What may not be as obvious however, is that it's quite easy to change the authentication method of a user. For example, you may need to migrate users from Active Directory to Open Directory, or you have been using internal accounts and you would like to switch authentication against Active Directory.
