Czech Hackathon 2013 in two minutes

In mid October, fifty developers descended on Prague to fight over who could build the best app within 36 hours.

Kerio organized the inaugural Czech Hackathon 2013 with four other leading companies with development teams based in the Czech Republic - GoodData, Socialbakers, Inmite and Geewa.

TechSquare, located in a redeveloped industrial building in Prague, provided a perfect backdrop for Czech Hackathon 2013. Kicked off by a short series of talks on the latest mobile and cloud technologies, each participant got 60 seconds to pitch his or her idea. The teams then formed around 10 of those ideas.

Who won?

#1 BetaMuffin
A crowd-sourced beta testing platform for iOS and Android apps

#2 Knedlo Reader
A news reader that learns user's reading preferences over time and highlights the most relevant topics

#3 Zeitgeist
A mobile app for time-lapse photography

Even though this particular team didn't get a podium position in the final voting, Zoorilla took on a life of its own. This team developed a client app for Apache Zookeeper, a cloud orchestration tool, and have since moved their project to https://github.com/zoorilla.
