If you're a regular reader of this blog, there is a pretty good chance you already own an iPad. However, if you don't have one yet, or if you have one and are looking for a way to start being productive with it, today's launch of Kerio Connect 7.4 is for you.

The new Kerio Connect optimized iPad interface means full administration capabilities from virtually anywhere for the IT staff. So, open up Safari on the iPad and log in to the Kerio Connect web admin. From there, check out the multi-finger scrolling to go through logs, next, use the two-finger tap to pull up contextual menus. You can even toggle to hide the menu tree on the left hand side to maximize real estate.

In effect, the iPad becomes your mobile command center. You can perform routine after-hours maintenance tasks while on the go and troubleshoot issues instantaneously while looking over your user's shoulder.

The other nice addition to Kerio Connect 7.4, and the first thing you can check out on your iPad, is User Access Policies. This feature gives administrators tighter management controls while limiting security vulnerabilities of the mail server. Got a bunch of freelancers? You now have the ability to limit them to desktop email access only (and keep their mobile phones away from your network).

Administrators can now set access permissions to Kerio Connect services such as Kerio WebMail, ActiveSync, or EWS. Permissions can be applied on an individual user basis. Additionally, with User Access Policies, Kerio Connect hosting providers can limit desktop mailboxes to their basic offering, and provide mobile device synchronization in their premium offering.
