Two more celebrate 10 years at Kerio

Two of our senior developers, Miroslav Osladil and Lukáš Petrlík joined Kerio in September 2005. Here's what they have to say about life at the company.

How did you find out about Kerio?

MO: "From my two friends who have been working at Kerio. Both still working here."

LP: "Two of my friends worked at Kerio."

Was there anything that stood out about your first day at Kerio?

MO: "No other workplace has been so friendly, relaxed and as open as Kerio. From day one I knew that things are different here."

LP: "Friendly atmosphere. Team spirit. No office politics."

Can you describe Kerio in one word?

OL: "YouCannotSimplyDescribeTenYearsOfLifeWithYourSecondFamilyInOneWordLol."

LP: "Smart."

What does Kerio mean to you on a personal and professional level?

MO: "Unlimited possibilities. Kerio is like a kindergarten, it's full of adult children but instead of playing with a cube we work on computers. The beautiful thing is that the people working here are those who you want to see in and out of work. That's why Kerio is called the Family."

LP: "The people I work with are remarkably smart and nice. I feel that I learned a lot recently - from bare bones database internals to high-level programming of cloud-based applications."

What are some of your fondest memories of your 10 years at Kerio?

MO: "It is foolish to think that during ten years of life in Kerio there is not something unforgettable. The truth is that every day is somehow special. However if I had to pick one thing, it is probably the moment when I realized that I work at Kerio not because of the money or having a job, but because of people, culture and products we believe in."

LP: "When we first released the product, part of which was the result of my work, and it started to be used by hundreds of thousands of people."

Can you recall a funny moment you’ve had at Kerio?

MO: "Shh.. No one should know about our singing skills in karaoke after work."

LP: "Several years ago my team chose horse riding as a team building activity. Unsuspecting and with no horse riding experience we mounted the horses that were offered to us. In the beginning everything seemed alright, but suddenly the horse I rode got scared and it started to run away with me. I also lost my glasses when they got swiped off my face by a tree branch. Fortunately, I managed to stop the horse, but the whole team then had to look for my glasses all over the forest."

What future endeavors are you looking forward to at Kerio?

MO: "I'd like to hear more customers saying there is no better server than Kerio Connect. I hope that every company will use Kerio Control, with everyone dialing one another with Kerio Operator and using the MyKerio Cloud service. And, I wish Samepage will beat the World."

LP: "Another project that will allow me to delve into some new interesting technologies."
